Since the beginning of the human race, different cultures and civilisations have committed to honouring and caring for the deceased, beginning with a type of ceremony or funeral service.
In honouring the lives of our lost loved ones, the cemetery – their final resting place – marks a sacred space in which to connect, chat, laugh and feel.
We are becoming more open to talking about death and dying with our families and in our communities as people take more control over their funeral arrangements.
For me death is real. It’s something that’ll happen to all of us at some time. It’s unavoidable, and no matter what I do, I can’t change that.
